Keynesian economics argues that the strategic aim of the central bank activity is maintaining economic growth and full employment in conditions of equilibrium. The National Bank of Poland did not use the government's support in activities supporting the stabilization of economic situation, with the exception of activities in range of the stabilization of prices. A different opinion on this problem present followers of monetarism. They argue that the strategic aim is achieving the stability of prices which in long-term will lead to economic growth. Such a policy was followed by the National Bank of Poland between 1990 and 2005.
